Our high school programming sparks innovative ideas in students in grades 9 through 12 in the Algoma Region. Encouraging and fostering innovation, digital literacy and entrepreneurial thinkers to develop new ideas and solutions to everyday problems through in-class programs and after-school activities!

All our in-class programming is delivered by trained staff and community volunteers who bring real world experience into the classroom. Teachers are encouraged to contact us to fit a program into their class schedule.

HIGH SCHOOL

Innovation & Curiosity Programs

This session explores many different careers focused on technology and those which are transforming to a digital focus in the coming years. Students will have an opportunity to ask questions related to digital careers and how the workforce will change.

DIGITAL CAREER DAYS

Digital Literacy Programs

This program introduces computer science concepts at the high school level. With the use of drag and drop block programming, students will learn many of the basics including variables, functions, loops, and conditionals without needing to type code.

INTRO TO COMPUTER SCIENCE & CODING

3-5 Hr
Grades 9-12

This program is an introduction to mobile application programming using simple drag-n-drop block programming on a simulator of a mobile device.  Learn to program user inputs and design layouts for mobile devices.

INTRO TO MOBILE APP PROGRAMMING

3-5 Hr
Grades 9-12

Students will learn to use HTML to layout the content of simple web pages and CSS to style the look and feel (e.g. colors, fonts).  This topic can also be expanded to include programming with JavaScript – the language used to make web pages interactive (such as responding to button clicks and form submissions).
